Making Strides in Afghanistan

Local Grass Root Groups Spearhead Reconstruction Event

(Fremont – December 3, 2007) Once a year, grass roots organizations with projects in Afghanistan come together in solidarity in the Bay Area at a conference to network and discuss reconstruction.

The Rebuild Afghanistan Summit 2007 will involve over 20 groups Saturday December 15, 12 – 4 p.m. at the Centerville Presbyterian Church gymnasium, 4360 Central Avenue in Fremont. Admission is free.

łAlthough a relatively small number of people are involved with all the organizations - collectively we are making a big impact in Afghanistan.˛ said summit organizer Masood Sattari.

Sattari, who is an Afghan-American engineer, has chaired the proactive assembly for the past four years where results, best practices, resources and knowledge of active charitable programs in Afghanistan can be shared.

Dr. Mo Qayoumi, keynote speaker, president of California State University East Bay and native of Afghanistan, will deliver the address łThe Role The Bay Area Can Play In Afghanistan Reconstruction˛.

Interested persons, volunteers and donors are invited to hear presentations and workshops by the non-profits that promote educators, health care facilities, orphanages, landmine removal, tree planting, micro-lending, job training, water purification, archeology and construction projects.

Afghan refreshments will be provided. Ample parking is available.
